FOR PORTIONS OF WEST-CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MINNESOTA\n\n\n\n\n    Mesoscale Discussion 0989\n    NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK\n    0352 PM CDT Fri Jun 05 2026\n\n    Areas affected...portions of west-central and southern Minnesota\n\n    Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 274...\n\n    Valid 052052Z - 052215Z\n\n    The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 274\n    continues.\n\n    SUMMARY...The threat for large hail and damaging wind gusts\n    continues across newly issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch 274.\n\n    DISCUSSION...Several discrete/semi-discrete supercells have\n    developed just east of the SD/MN border as of 2030 UTC, with a\n    recent report of 1\" hail and a measured gust of 56 kts. A corridor\n    of marginally steeper mid-level lapse rates (6.5+ C/km) analyzed via\n    latest objective analysis and modestly increasing mid-level flow\n    (sampled by the MPX VAD profile) immediately downstream of an\n    approaching shortwave trough will continue to promote the potential\n    for large hail as these storms propagate southeastward, with\n    damaging to occasionally severe wind gusts also possible. A locally\n    greater severe risk may evolve should a storm favorable interact\n    with a remnant outflow boundary from prior convection (evident on\n    visible satellite imagery and surface observations).\n\n    With time, storms may evolve into one or more bowing\n    segments/clusters, which would favor an attendant increase in the\n    threat for damaging wind gusts.
