MD 0681 CONCERNING SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH UNLIKELY FOR FAR SOUTH TEXAS Mesoscale Discussion 0681 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0938 AM CDT Sat May 09 2026 Areas affected...Far South Texas Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely Valid 091438Z - 091615Z Probability of Watch Issuance...5 percent SUMMARY...Isolated severe wind gusts are possible for the next 1 to 2 hours. DISCUSSION...A (likely) slightly elevated supercell has moved across Hidalgo county this morning with a recent measured wind gust of 54 knots in McAllen, Texas. The 12Z KBRO RAOB sampled this environment with 2500 J/kg MUCAPE and 47 knots of effective shear with a PWAT of 2.00". This should be sufficient to maintain some isolated wind threat for the next 1 to 2 hours. On the storm scale, an additional stronger core has developed in western Willacy county. These stronger cores, in addition to additional development near the Rio Grande, should support isolated areas of intense water loading and the potential for damaging wind gusts for the next 1 to 2 hours before these storms move offshore and the threat subsides. ..Bentley/Gleason.. 05/09/2026 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product...
