"textContent": "MD 0490 CONCERNING SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH UNLIKELY FOR SOUTHWEST INTO NORTH-CENTRAL TX\n\n\n\n\n Mesoscale Discussion 0490\n NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK\n 0620 AM CDT Sat Apr 18 2026\n\n Areas affected...Southwest into north-central TX\n\n Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely\n\n Valid 181120Z - 181345Z\n\n Probability of Watch Issuance...5 percent\n\n SUMMARY...Isolated hail and localized strong to severe gusts are\n possible this morning.\n\n DISCUSSION...Some increase in storm coverage and intensity has\n recently been noted across parts of the TX Concho Valley and Big\n Country, to the north of a southward-moving cold front. Elevated\n convection is expected to continue moving east-northeastward to the\n north of the boundary through the morning, as the favored storm\n corridor gradually shifts southward with time in conjunction with\n the front. MUCAPE of greater than 1000 J/kg will continue to favor\n occasional robust updrafts. Rather strong mid/upper-level\n southwesterly flow will support sufficient effective shear for at\n least transient storm organization, and an elevated supercell or two\n cannot be ruled out.\n\n The favorable buoyancy and shear will result in potential for\n isolated hail with the strongest cells. While convection will remain\n elevated, strong to localized severe gusts may also occur, in\n association with gravity-wave-related processes within the\n post-frontal regime.
