Mayor Brandon Johnson is returning to WBEZ 91.5 on Thursday to answer listener questions live on the morning talk show “In the Loop” with host Sasha-Ann Simons.

Last month, Johnson visited the WBEZ studio to speak directly with Chicagoans in person about staying the rising costs of getting around the city, how infrastructure can bring business back to neighborhoods and his thoughts on early contenders for the 2029 presidential election.

While Johnson didn’t single out a single candidate to support, he did call out one he wouldn’t: “I have very deep concerns about [Rahm Emanuel,] the former mayor of the city of Chicago. What he did in Chicago, from school closures to privatization to austere budgets ... [and] there was a boy who was murdered by our police, and it was covered up. I think that’s disqualifying.”

"In the Loop" listeners can call 866-915-WBEZ (866-915-9239) between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. to bring their questions about Chicago and how it's being run directly to the mayor.

WBEZ’s “In the Loop” connects you with the people behind the stories: experts, neighbors and newsmakers who shape the city we share. For more on “In the Loop” and to listen to their segments, visit their website. You can also listen to the show on Spotify or the WBEZ app.
