Competing against 41 highly skilled Kia technicians from 40 countries, Sharples claimed the Gold Award.\n\nHaving established himself as one of the UK's leading Kia technicians earlier this year, Tom earned the right to represent both Kia UK and Ken Jervis Kia on the world stage, being put to the test through a series of demanding written and practical assessments, covering advanced diagnostic techniques, vehicle repair procedures, component analysis and electric vehicle technology.\n\nThe Kia Skill World Cup is a global technical competition designed to identify outstanding global service technicians and enhance overall service capabilities. First launched in 2002, the event has been held biennially as one of Kia’s flagship global training and skills initiatives.\n\nWinners received trophies and medals, along with prize money comprising of $5,000 USD (£3,717) for Gold; $3,000 (£2,230) for Silver; and $2,000 (£1,487) for Bronze. In addition, six participants received Excellence Awards, each with a plaque and $500 (£371).\n\nCommenting on his success, Tom said:\n\n> “It was an incredible honour to represent both Ken Jervis Kia and Kia UK at the Skill World Cup. To compete against the very best Kia technicians from around the world was a fantastic experience, and to come away with the Gold Award is something I am immensely proud of.\n\n> \"Achievements like this don't happen in isolation. The support, encouragement and opportunities I've received from everyone at Ken Jervis Kia have played a huge part in my development, and I am grateful to work alongside such a talented team.\"\n\nThe achievement reflects years of dedication to technical excellence, continuous learning and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service. As a Master Technician and EV Specialist, Tom is responsible for diagnosing and repairing some of the most complex technical issues encountered within Kia's ever-evolving vehicle range.\n\nJames Norwood, General Manager at Ken Jervis, said:\n\n> \"Everyone at Ken Jervis is incredibly proud of Tom. To be recognised as the best Kia technician in the world is an extraordinary achievement and one that reflects the commitment, professionalism and technical expertise he demonstrates every day.\n\n> \"What makes this success even more special is the journey Tom has taken. He first had to prove himself against the very best technicians in the UK before earning the opportunity to represent his country on the global stage. To then go on and win the world final is simply outstanding.\n\n> \"Whilst this recognition rightly belongs to Tom, it also reflects the culture we have worked hard to create at Ken Jervis.
