"textContent": "Burleigh, based at Middleport Pottery, is the UK's oldest continuously working Victorian pottery and is renowned around the world for its craftsmanship and heritage.\n\nThe business is entering a new chapter under the ownership of Christopher Bailey, best known for his transformational work at Burberry.\n\nDavid Williams, MP for Stoke-on-Trent North and Kidsgrove, welcomed the announcement, describing it as a positive moment for both the company and the city.\n\nHe said:\n\n> \"This is wonderful news for Burleigh, for our city, and for our skilled, passionate and dedicated workers who have made this iconic company globally recognised for the quality and craftsmanship of its products.\n\n> \"I am delighted that Christopher Bailey recognises the unique heritage, expertise and craftsmanship that make Burleigh so special. His remarkable experience and international reputation will be a tremendous asset to the business, and I warmly welcome him to our city.\"\n\nMr Williams said the news was another reminder of the importance of the ceramics industry to Stoke-on-Trent.\n\n> \"Pottery is part of our DNA in Stoke-on-Trent. It is woven into who we are as a city and a community. Our ceramics industry has shaped generations of local families, and Burleigh remains one of the finest examples of the talent, skill and creativity that exists here.\"\n\nThe news follows last month's announcement of a £120 million government support package for the ceramics industry, designed to help manufacturers tackle rising energy costs and safeguard the future of UK production.\n\nMr Williams added:\n\n> \"This announcement follows the welcome news that the ceramics sector will benefit from a £120 million support package announced by this Labour Government which I have been campaigning on with my fellow MPs since I was elected.\n\n> \"That support package demonstrates a clear commitment to backing one of Britain's most important manufacturing industries.\n\n> \"I have always said that I would fight to protect our pots, our jobs and our proud industrial heritage. Today's announcement is another vote of confidence in Stoke-on-Trent's world-leading ceramics sector, and I look forward to seeing Burleigh go from strength to strength in the years ahead.\"\n\nThe announcement will be welcomed across Stoke-on-Trent, with many hoping the investment will help secure the future of one of the city's most iconic pottery brands for generations to come.\n\n#### Enjoyed this story?\n\nThe Staffordshire Signal is a not-for-profit, community-funded publication.
