Staffordshire Moorlands District Council is developing action plans to inform how investment, services, and partnerships are developed at a local level and wants to hear directly from the people who live there to:

• Gather their views on what is working well locally
• What could be improved
• What ‘good’ looks like for your community in the future

A series of online sessions are taking place in June and people interested in taking part can register now on the Council’s website Residents Locality Action Plans - Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.

Councillor Mike Gledhill, Council Leader, said:

“Changes to how local government operates across Staffordshire are coming. Whilst we wait further decisions from the Government on what that looks like for the Moorlands, we want to do all we can to ensure our towns, villages, and communities are in the best position to continue to thrive

“That’s why we’re doing this work now and why it’s really important that people that live and work in the Moorlands get involved. You don’t need any specialist knowledge, just your experience of living locally.

“There’s more information on our website so I’d encourage people to take a look and, if they’re able, to join us at the session that is local them so their voices are heard and we can factor in what matters to people here in the Moorlands as we plan for the future.”

The six locality areas in the Moorlands and the dates of the engagement sessions are:

• Semi-Rural and Churnet Valley – Bradnop, Cheddleton, Consall, Cotton, Ipstones, Kingsley and Oakamoor. Online session date: 16 June.
• Rural Moorlands (Peak District) – Alstonefield, Blore with Swinscoe, Butterton, Fawfieldhead, Grindon, Heathylee, Hollinsclough, Ilam, Leekfrith, Longnor, Oncecote, Quarnford, Sheen, Tittesworth, Warslow and Elkstones, Waterhouses and Wetton. Online session date: 18 June.
• Southwest – Caverswall, Dilhorne and Werrington. Online session date: 24 June.
• Northwest – Biddulph, Bagnall, Brown Edge and Endon with Stanley. Online session date: 25 June.
• North Moorlands – Heaton, Horton, Leek, Longsdon and Rushdon. Online session date: 29 June.
• Southeast – Alton, Cheadle, Checkley, Draycott in the Moors, Farley and Forsbrook. Online session date: 30 June.

Sessions will be informal, facilitated discussions held online via Microsoft Teams starting at 6pm and lasting around 60 minutes. Places at each session are limited to help keep the discussions meaningful, so registering your interest does not guarantee a place. We’ll confirm attendance details with participants in advance.
