"textContent": "As businesses increasingly rely on digital systems, online payments and connected technology, keeping organisations safe online has become a growing challenge. From phishing emails and scams to cyber attacks and data breaches, threats continue to evolve and many smaller organisations are left wondering where to turn for support.\n\nNow a new event in Longton aims to help change that.\n\nLongton Community Cyber Day will take place at Longton Exchange on Monday 8 June 2026, bringing together police, cyber professionals and business support organisations for a free day focused on online safety and cyber resilience.\n\nThe police-led event has been organised by Sergeant Richard Lloyd of Staffordshire Police in partnership with the Cyber Resilience Centre for the West Midlands, Longton Exchange and supporting organisations.\n\nDesigned specifically for SMEs, charities, sole traders and community groups in and around Longton, the event aims to raise awareness of online threats while connecting people with practical support and guidance available locally.\n\nThroughout the afternoon, visitors can drop in and speak directly with cyber professionals and police officers through informal one-to-one clinics and advice sessions.\n\nTopics covered will include current scams and online threats, cyber security best practice and guidance on protecting organisations from increasingly sophisticated attacks.\n\nVisitors will also be able to learn about fully funded support services available through the Cyber Resilience Centre for the West Midlands.\n\nThe event then continues into the evening with a presentation and networking session, including an opportunity to hear more about emerging cyber trends and meet ambassadors involved with cyber resilience work across the region.\n\nOrganisers say there is no need to book in advance, with local organisations encouraged to drop in throughout the day or attend the evening session.\n\n### Longton Community Cyber Day\n\nFormer Shoe Zone unit, Longton Exchange, Longton\nMonday 8 June 2026\n\n**12pm to 5pm**\nDrop in sessions and one-to-one cyber clinics\n\n**5:30pm to 6:30pm**\nPresentation and Meet the Ambassadors session, including refreshments\n\n**6:30pm to 7pm**\nBusiness networking\n\nFor further information visit:\n\nLongton Cyber Day | WMCRCWMCRC\n\nAs more aspects of business life move online, events like this are becoming an increasingly important way for local organisations to access support and stay one step ahead of the latest threats.\n\n#### Enjoyed this story?\n\nThe Staffordshire Signal is a not-for-profit, community-funded publication.
