"textContent": "Stoke-on-Trent North and Kidsgrove MP David Williams has praised the House of Commons catering team after oatcakes appeared on the parliamentary breakfast menu this week, ahead of Staffordshire Day on Friday.\n\nThe Potteries staple made its Westminster debut to mark the annual celebration of all things Staffordshire, though David admitted the experience came with a few notes for improvement.\n\n> \"They tried to be a bit too posh,\" he said. \"The folding was like something I've never seen before, I think the chef might double up as an origami champion on the side.\"\n\nAfter taking matters into his own hands and refolding it, David made a further discovery: something green had been added on top. He declined to identify the offending ingredient, but confirmed it was promptly removed and replaced with red sauce.\n\n> \"A good save in the end,\" he said. \"But joking apart, it is brilliant that we are able to showcase our special food to people down here in Parliament. I am really grateful to the catering team for everything they do.\"\n\nStaffordshire Day is celebrated annually on the First of May, marking the county's heritage, culture, and as David would no doubt argue, its superior breakfast options.\n\nMP David Williams, Oatcakes in Parliament\n\n#### Enjoyed this story?\n\nThe Staffordshire Signal is a not-for-profit, community-funded publication.
