  "textContent": "This new feature will see Beth, our Features Writer, and sometimes Jenna Goodwin, founder and editor of The Staffordshire Signal, visiting homes across the county to sit down with residents, hear their stories, look through old photographs, and, where appropriate and with permission, take portraits to accompany the feature.\n\nThe aim is to preserve the memories of Staffordshire’s older generation and share them with readers across the county.\n\n## Why preserving older people’s memories matters\n\nSome of the most important stories in Staffordshire are not always found in official records or history books. They are found in memory.\n\nThey are stories of growing up in Staffordshire, working in local industries, raising families, living through wartime, seeing towns and villages change, and remembering communities as they once were. These memories help paint a fuller picture of life across the county and deserve to be heard, valued and preserved.\n\nIn today’s digital world, fewer people write letters, keep diaries, or print photographs. As a result, many personal stories and everyday memories risk being lost over time. Through this new monthly magazine feature, The Staffordshire Signal wants to help protect those memories and make sure they are shared with future generations.\n\n## A new monthly feature for care homes and residential homes in Staffordshire\n\nThe Staffordshire Signal will be working with care homes and residential homes that would like to give residents the opportunity to share their memories and personal stories.\n\nBeth will visit participating homes and spend time talking with residents in a relaxed and respectful way. If residents are happy to do so, they may also share old family photographs, historical images, or have a portrait taken for the feature.\n\nThe focus of the project is simple. We want to record the memories of Staffordshire through the voices of the people who have lived its history.\n\nThis monthly feature will appear in the magazine and will celebrate the stories, experiences and memories of older people across Staffordshire.\n\n## Staffordshire stories that should not be lost\n\nAcross care homes and residential homes in Staffordshire, there are countless memories waiting to be shared. Stories of pottery, mining, farming, village life, school days, family life, celebrations, hardship, friendship, work, and the changing face of local communities.\n\nThese are not small stories. They are the building blocks of Staffordshire’s history.\n\nBy recording and sharing them, we hope to create something meaningful for residents, families, care staff, and readers right across the county. It is a chance to celebrate lives, preserve personal history, and remind people that the story of Staffordshire belongs to everyone.\n\n## How care homes and residential homes can get involved\n\nWe are now inviting care homes and residential homes across Staffordshire to register their interest in taking part.\n\nIf you work in a care home or residential home and think your residents would enjoy sharing their memories, we would love to hear from you.
