"textContent": "Stoke-on-Trent City Council is building on the city’s strong communities and local health services, by setting out ambitious plans that will make it easier for people to look after their sexual and reproductive health.\n\nA new Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy sets out clear steps to reduce sexually transmitted infections, prevent unplanned pregnancies and give people more choice and control over contraception.\n\nThe strategy includes a major push to take services where people are, such as testing vans in neighbourhoods, increased contraception appointments at times that suit residents and expanded online testing and advice.\n\nIn addition, access to Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) will grow in GP surgeries, pharmacies and community clinics alongside faster and simpler access to short-acting methods.\n\n## Local news is broken. This strategy builds on what the city is already doing, while giving people more tools to make informed choices, protect their health and plan their futures with confidence.\n\n“I encourage residents to take their own action as well, whether this be getting tested, talking to their GP or pharmacist or sharing information about local services with people they know – sexual health is an important part of our overall health.”\n\nThe strategy is set to be approved at cabinet and more information about sexual health services in Stoke-on-Trent will be shared as it is rolled out.\n\n#### Enjoyed this story?\n\nAs a Community Interest Company, we reinvest every penny into Staffordshire journalism.
