I love (/s) how people get soooo angry at anyone who argues that fan cultures can and often do replicate existing social hierarchies and systems of exclusion and erasure. And then they try to translate their knee-jerk defensiveness into arguments staged in pseudo-intellectual terms. But then you look at their notes and see they’re not only using stats from someone who’s own methodology is super wonky and oft-critiqued (hint: it doesn’t include any locked/private fics), but also are still forced to admit their argument even then BARELY holds water lmao like I’m sorry you’re gonna throw stones from inside your glass cubicle where you think not activating a windows system is a damning sign of intellectual failure??? (Tell me you’ve never met a professor without telling me ajshdhsh).
