Iceland in mid-winter certainly is an aesthetic. Here are a few experiments in black and white, all taken in the area around a dilapidated summer cabin. The area around the town, Hveragerði, has a distinct aesthetic when it’s still and cold and the geothermal steam sits over the landscape First raven photo of the winter. Ravens here in Iceland tend to migrate to urban areas for the winter, after nesting in the countryside over the summer, so you tend to see more of them in winter. Skotta loafs in the spot favoured by many of the local cats. Horses can be a goofy lot sometimes. The horses were observing local foot traffic. I don’t think there’s anything in this photo that is fully sharp or in focus, but I like it anyway. The local cat shelter had these two current inhabitants. Hopefully not for long.
