It’s part dance party, part metal show, part rave, and just a wildly fun time from start to finish.\n\nOne of my favorite things about the evening was just how diverse the appeal was. There were people present from all walks of life — every age group, every background, and every scene. As I arrived at the Special Events Center in Greensboro, NC, I noticed a large number of people were decked out in their finest outfits inspired by the satirical music videos of Electric Callboy. I found myself in a sea of neon, sweatbands, and a variety of 80s-90s swag. Everyone was clearly eager to have a good time!\n\nAt 9pm sharp, we heard the vocals of lead vocalist Nico Sallach begin to fill the air. You could see his shadow slowly appearing in the center behind the TANZNEID curtain before us, and then it dropped! The members emerged through a field of smoke as they launched right into the tour’s namesake, “TANZNEID.”\n\nFrank Zummo of Sum 41 is touring with them on drums, so they covered “Still Waiting” next. The cannons at the front of the stage suddenly exploded, drenching the audience in red confetti. Hearing them perform this song was such a highlight for me as a longtime Sum 41 fan. They delivered a phenomenal rendition!\n\nMid-set, we were treated to a drum solo by Zummo, followed by an intimate acoustic session of “Fuckboi” and “Every Time We Touch.” The evening included a total of 7 wardrobe changes, further leaning into the band's personality and dedication to their craft.\n\nFor an hour and forty minutes, the room barely had a chance to breathe as Electric Callboy seamlessly shifted the environment from a rave-like atmosphere to circle pits and breakdowns! They covered all of their hits from across their discography, including “We Got the Moves,” “Elevator Operator,” “Tekkno Train,” “Pump It,” “RATATATA,” and, of course, the viral song that propelled their global stardom, “Hypa Hypa.”\n\nThe evening was wild, a little unhinged, and 100% infectious! I’m incredibly shy and awkward in public, but even I couldn’t help but dance and jump around at a few songs. It feels good to just let go sometimes and be in the moment, surrounded by others doing the same, and Electric Callboy creates an environment where doing exactly that feels effortless. — and isn’t that what live music is all about, anyway?\n\n* * *\n\n🔌\n\nWEBSITE // INSTAGRAM // YOUTUBE // SPOTIFY",
