Since coming together in 2010, the female-fronted, co-ed band War On Women has been cultivating a**** sound that mixes the best elements from hardcore and punk, and now they are turning more to the rock side with the release of their fifth studio album, "Time Under Tension"! Their latest single, "Message Unsent," gave us a taste of what the album will sound like and what it will give us!

With this album exploring a little bit of genre change, I found that the band doesn't ever stay too static and is always trying new things, even if small! They make music they love and can stand behind, with meaning. That is why the audience loves them! War on Women is a band that has endured and continues to grow over time.

And with music this good, we hope they stay around for a long time!

With the band's heavy background in political punk and my own background playing and being a part of the political punk scene, I wanted to know more about what that has been like for them as a band and what it's been like to move into different genres and tones as they explore their own abilities and careers in music. I am sure that I am far from alone!

I sat down with Shawna Potter, the vocalist, to learn more about their new album, shows they have coming up, and what it's been like to be a female-fronted co-ed band in the political side of music.

Meet the band members of War On Women:

Shawna Potter - Vocals

Brooks Harlan - Guitar

Suzanne Werner - Bass

Ben Jones - Drums
