"textContent": "I'm writing this way later than I'd care to. I saw a post that reiterated that it was _solely_ the\naction of voters of Trump that led to the formation of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the\nImmigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that's fueled the current state of (extended) crisis for\nthose who have seen this harm be perpetuated for decades now (and an extension of it for even\nlonger). This chosen sports-like behavior, \"it's their fault!\", \"they opted for it\", allows the\nState to run blameless, unchecked and unaccountable for its action.\n\nThis violence we see today is what those who are impacted by immigration on a personal level see\nhappen to them _irregardless_ of who is in charge because this is the modus operandi of American\ndomestic policy. Dissent is not to be tolerated, as described by President Barack Obama during\nthe Ferguson uprising just as President Trump declared implicitly after the \"illegal\" arrest of\na Palestinian student advocate. The level of anger is righteous and should be made into the opposing\nparty's line of defense. But this can't happen as long as that party remains the center-right one.\n\nSo, for those who are playing into the idea of sports-driven politics, please reserve that energy\nfor community action and aid. Talk to the people who need defense instead of throwing digital\ntomatoes at people who won't _ever_ see or care about what you post into a digital void.\n\nAn Addendum\nI really need people to stop scrolling and read a bit more. Namely two books, [It Did Happen\nHere][1] and [The Black Antifascist Tradition][2]; because what we're seeing is a _very_ American\ntradition and it's _integral_ to its operation. Neither major party will make efforts to dismantle\nthe systems that they profit from in social, political and economic class.\n\n\n[1]: https://www.itdidhappenherepodcast.com/book\n[2]: https://www.haymarketbooks.org/books/2223-the-black-antifascist-tradition",
