"textContent": "I've had this version of my static site using Eleventy\nfor some time. It really does the job and I've enjoyed my use of it. However,\nI'm slightly slamming against limits that I don't want to deal with it. I've\nbegun working on yet another CMS attempt, codenamed \"ticaye\" (_little house_ in\nHaitian Kreyol), but I had to put that off to the side because of my need to\nwork on more immediate projects - livtet and divine being the most recent. I'm\nfiguring that also by blogging, I'll get a bit of focus on what it is I want\nand how I can shape my experience towards that. There's quite a bit I want my\nsite to do and it all floats around \"sovereignty\":\n\n- writing my blog posts as normal\n- making my weeknotes, linklog and other short(er) form posts\n- use my site as my canonical place to post into the open social Web\n- allow for deep, Wordpress-level theming and content editing\n- keep stats on the things I use for easier reference in conversation and research\n\nSome of this is easy to do. I made a page to track the tech and services I have\nand use at /uses — open to feedback. I was debating adding\nimages but didn't think it was that useful. This link does help me glance over\nstats as I'm actively looking to upgrade my home PC and going to my website is\na bit easier than SSH'ing into my home computing setup to figure this out. It\nalso helps me talk about my setup in general — I like talking about my\nstuff!\n\nBut I think I'm just going to do something with this site until I get the new one going.\nIn a way, I'm trying to prevent this site [from being too quiet][1]. This\nincludes looking at my literal home lab seriously and writing more about it —\n[like Andrew did][2]. It's kind of silly that I've had this hodgepodge setup\nof a system for the last 6 years — might as well make it more useful.\n\nOperation ticaye\n\nIf you're someone who's on <https://lobste.rs> or\n<https://news.ycombinator.com>, you'll see (although less nowadays) about the\nperpetual site rewrite. The idea/hope is that I'll be concretely doing the\nfollowing:\n\n- moving from <https://blacksky.app> as my [PDS][3] to my own home one\n- having my site also lean into the [ActivityPub API][4] and [other IndieWeb specs][5]\n- get more in-tune with the interface I want for publishing on my site\n\nThis will be the side-project that I'll churn on over the next year on weekends\nwhen time permits. I _want this_ because I _like_ it. I'm in the same thinking\nthat Andre has in this post about some folks wanting to\n[run some things at home][6] — some folks want to do their own gel nails,\ntouch up their cars, cook their own meals - and others don't mind making things\nthat they use that other people engage with (or at least perceive). If all else\nfails, I'll just come back to <https://www.11ty.dev> and call it defeat.\n\n[1]: https://seanvoisen.com/thinking/2026-06-01-dropping-to-blog-level/\n[2]: https://ahelwer.ca/post/2020-08-14-home-ergonomics/\n[3]: https://atproto.wiki/en/wiki/reference/core-architecture/pds\n[4]: https://github.com/swicg/activitypub-api\n[5]: https://spec.indieweb.org/\n[6]: https://staltz.com/some-people-want-to-run-their-own-servers",
