Beer League

Let me tell you more about my newest project: Beer League. It is a game about an amateur soccer team who want to win the EUFA Champions League. Unfortunately, they are just amateurs. But what they lack in skills, they will make up with enthusiasm and foul play. You play ten seasons in which you need to promote to the next league and in the end take home Ol’ Big Ears. To succeed, you not only need to play a good match, you will also will need to earn some money. Money will buy you stuff and maybe you can even pay a famous player to join you for one match. Every player has a unique set of properties and skills. Skills can enhance by playing more games or doing exercises in the training facilities. Beer League Currently I am trying to get the main components to work and the most important soccer movements. As you may notice, there are already some cartoon like actions and responses in the game. But there are also al lot of quirks that come with the way I mix canned animations with physics and procedural actions. All characters will be hand drawn figures. I now have about ten of them, but eventually I will create a hundred or more. You can spot two famous Dutch players. It will work with Mixamo characters, so people can import their own players as well. The game already uses over forty animations, a number of the coming from Mixamo, but also a number of custom animations. The matches will be played like an RTS, you command your players to hold positions, chase the ball, attack enemy players or defend your goal. The match has a multi layered AI with tactical decisions, operational actions and consequences that may vary based on player stats. There is only one danger: I like watching the matches so much that that may slow me down.
