Web Start a Java App

Hello Guys, I’m experimenting with web-starting a game. It kind of works on my Windows machine but not so smooth - from the user experience POV - he needs to install open web start, then click on the game’s link but this doesn’t trigger the open web start process. instead the user needs to double-click on the downloaded file for the process to start. My questions: 1. Can you try it on your machines and tell if works reasonably? or am I wasting my time with this feature. 2. Are there any alternatives to open web start for Java? Thanks a lot!
