No more boring drawings!
Sure, this post by Ralph Ammer is technically about drawing, but it also maps almost perfectly onto sharing anything with audience. His idea that every drawing is a self-portrait applies just as much to newsletters. When you publish, you’re sketching a picture of how you think, what you notice, and what matters to you.
Which is why presentation matters—and why over-relying on templates can flatten the work.
As Ralph writes: “Carefully composed drawings can showour relation to the world. And that is interesting. It is interesting because we have made a conscious choice of what is important to us. And chances are that this is also interesting for others.”
