"textContent": "**Brighton Fringe** season is approaching which can mean only one thing; the return of the **Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus** to **St George's Church** for their first show of the year! _Heroes_ , will celebrate local LGBTQ+ heroes and a range of musical icons, on **1 & 2 May**.\n\nEach show will feature live interviews with people who have made amazing differences to our local LGBTQ community, including **Sarah Savage** (CEO of **Trans Pride Brighton**), **Gail Smith** (former chair of**Sussex Gay Liberation Front**), **Prof. Sheena McCormak** (clinical epidemiologist who led the UK’s groundbreaking PrEP study) and **Duncan Lustig-Prean**(retired Royal Navy Officer who successfully challenged the ban on LGBTQ+ personnel in the Armed Forces).\n\nAlongside these community greats will be a musical pantheon of artists, from David Bowie, Freddie Mercury and George Michael, through to newer heroes like JADE and Self Esteem who are carrying that legacy forward.\n\nThe Chorus is well known for its stirring and innovative arrangements crafted by the in-house music team, and _Heroes_ will showcase some of their finest work to date, lending familiar songs a fresh choral twist, along with several standout solo performances from Chorus members.\n\nNick Ford Photography\n\n**Joe Paxton** , Artistic Director of Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus, commented: “Brighton occupies a unique position in the UK’s LGBTQ+ community and so it is vital that we support the essential work of our community heroes. We are delighted to give some of them a platform at our shows, as we celebrate some outstanding musical icons.”\n\nThe Chorus will also be raising funds for its new charity partner **Tonic** , which is a social group for gay men and those who identify with gay male culture, bringing people together for fun, friendship, and connection without alcohol or drugs.\n\n💡\n\nBrighton Gay Men’s Chorus presents __Heroes__ at St George’s Church, Kemptown, Brighton on Friday 1 and Saturday, 2 May 2026 at with doors at 6.45pm for 7.30pm start.
