BBC Radio 2 presenter and Eurovision figure Scott Mills has been sacked from the corporation following allegations relating to his personal conduct, bringing an abrupt end to nearly three decades with the broadcaster.

The BBC confirmed on Monday that Mills, 53, is “no longer contracted” and has left the organisation, though it declined to provide further detail about the nature of the allegations. Staff reportedly learned of the decision only hours before the news broke publicly, with BBC Director of Music Lorna Clarke writing to employees that the development would come as “a shock”, noting that many had worked alongside Mills across Radio 1 , 5 Live , Radio 2 and BBC television.

Mills last appeared on air on 24 March , signing off his Radio 2 Breakfast Show with “See you tomorrow,” but was replaced the following morning by Gary Davies as the BBC began reviewing the complaint. According to reports, his contract was terminated over the weekend after he was taken off air.

He had been among the BBC’s highest‑paid presenters, earning more than £355,000 a year.

Mills married his husband Sam Vaughan in June 2024 at a Mediterranean villa near Barcelona in a lavish ceremony attended by BBC colleagues and celebrity friends including Zoe Ball, Rylan Clark, Jordan North, Calvin Harris and Vick Hope. The event featured performances by Pixie Lott, Calum Scott and Eurovision star Sam Ryder. Mills later described the day as “incredible” and said they were “excited to spend the rest of our lives together.”
