Noting that Bam Adebayo is a modest scorer in the pantheon of NBA players who scored 60 points in a single game (much less 70 or 80 points in a game), I created a comprehensive survey evaluating how many points per game and points per 36 minutes players averaged in the seasons in which they scored 60 or more points at least once (HT Basketball Reference). While looking at my chart, I came up with a “thing I learned” follow-up article idea.\n\nThere are eight individual game point totals that have only been achieved by a single player. I present the list below (HT NBA Hoops Online):\n\nPoints| Player| Instances\n---|---|---\n100| Wilt Chamberlain| 1\n83| Bam Adebayo| 1\n81| Kobe Bryant| 1\n78| Wilt Chamberlain| 1\n72| Wilt Chamberlain| 1\n69| Michael Jordan| 1\n67| Wilt Chamberlain| 4\n66| Wilt Chamberlain| 1\n\nThe four highest single-game point totals, 100, 83, 81, and 78 have only been reached once each, with Wilt Chamberlain owning 100 and 78, Ban Adebayo with 83, and Kobe Bryant with 81. Wilt Chamberlain is also the only player to score exactly 72 points in a game (three players have scored 73 and four have scored 71).\n\nWe have to go all the way down to 69 where we find that Michael Jordan was the only player to end a game exactly one point short of 70. Wilt Chamberlain is the only player to land on 67 (four times) and 66 (once).\n\nThere are three point totals that have only been landed on by two players:\n\n * 70 points: Devin Booker (2017) and Joel Embiid (2024)\n * 68 points: Wilt Chamberlain (1967) and Pete Maravich (1977)\n * 65 points: Wilt Chamberlain (1962, 1962, and 1966) and Kobe Bryant (2007)\n\n\n\nNo player had scored exactly 70 points in a game before Devin Booker landed on the number in 2017. Mr. Booker was joined by Joel Embiid in 2024, removing 70 from our unique point list. Pete Maravich joined Wilt Chamberlain at 68 points with his memorable career-best performance against the New York Knicks in 1977 (that was at the time the most points scored in a game by a guard). Maravich may have become the first player to score exactly 70 had he not fouled out of his 68-point game with 1:18 remaining.\n\nFinally, Wilt Chamberlain had been the only player to score 65 points, doing so on three occasions in 1962 (X2) and 1966. However, Kobe Bryant joined him with 65 points in a late-season overtime game in 2007.\n\nYou can reply to this article from your own site by sending a Webmention.",
