"textContent": "I credited a blog post to the personal blog of the pseudonymous Joel Chrono with giving me a concept for my new New Leaf Journal Blogroll. Because Joel Chrono’s post gave me an idea and I read his post because I subscribe to his RSS feed, I decided that his site should have the honor of being the first entry on my new Blogroll.\n\nJoel Chrono’s website is available at https://joelchrono.xyz/. It has an RSS feed at https://joelchrono.xyz/feed.xml. The RSS feed includes his blog posts, but his site also has a Blogroll (I follow a few of the websites on his Blogroll), a Now Page, and several other pages, some of which have their own RSS feeds.\n\nJoel Chrono describes himself as “[a] random guy from México lindo y querido!” Like me, he publishes articles and short posts about topics that interest him. He pitches his website as featuring his “thoughts and rambling about tech, gaming, and other hobbies.” I note additionally that his tech writing has a free and open source flavor (a plus in my book) and articles on blogging and small-web/indie web topics. He also publishes weekly notes posts where he discusses what he has been up to in the previous week and shares some links from around the web.\n\nI forget how I came across Joel Chrono’s blog in the first instance, but I added it to my feed reader after finding that I enjoyed a good number of his posts on topics of interest to me. I always take the time to read his week-notes and usually follow one or two of the external links he shares. Beyond the week-notes, I tend to be interested in his writing about tech, retro games, and writing and reading on the internet. While I do not read all of his posts, I have found more than enough for the blog to be a good part of my feed collection.\n\nJoel Chrono has a casual and sometimes conversational writing style. He is refreshingly positive, and keeps a good tone even when delivering critiques. While I read most of his articles and blog posts from the comfort of my Miniflux instance, he has a clean, interesting, and thoughtful website design that makes for easy reading and navigation.\n\nAs of the publication of this Blogroll entry, I have referenced a few of Joel Chrono’s posts on my various projects. Most significantly, I credited his Giving context to my blogroll with my own Blogroll concept (see NLJ post). I shared his Hacker News, reading again, and PEAK – W09 with comments about my own experiences making page one on Hacker News (see ECS post). I have shared Joel Chrono four times in my weekly newsletter. I shared The constant need for a source of entertainment in Newsletter 232, Listening to Full Albums Again in Newsletter 254, My first console in Newsletter 266, and A Sunday of chaos and quiet in Newsletter 269. Taken together, this small selection of posts I have shared with my audience highlights the wide range of topics Joel Chrono writes about on his website.\n\nIf you enjoy my writing or just happen to have stumbled upon my Blogroll, I encourage you to visit Joel Chrono’s website and take a look around.\n\nYou can reply to this article from your own site by sending a Webmention.",
