This should be up to the parents how they want to raise their children and not up to the government. So, the government in the UK can ban anyone under 16 years old from using social media and the parents have no decision in the process? Everyone should obey the laws for the country that they live in, but if this were to occur in the United States there would be all kinds of phone calls, emails, and voting people out of office for taking rights away from the parents. I personally do not like Smartphones and use desktop computers instead, but it’s the parents’ decision if the Smartphone can be used for more than just telephone calls. Websites like Blu-ray.com can also be considered social media if one is talking about the forum posts. Quotes "Announcing the ban in the past few minutes, Starmer said the UK is taking “world leading action” on social media, and that the legislation will go further than Australia’s including a block on livestreaming and stranger communication with children for under-16s, curfews for older teenagers and restrictions on AI chatbots." “A government survey found 90% of adults and a majority of kids in favor of a full ban, according to Starmer this morning.” “He told BBC News the regulation will be passed later this year and come into force in early 2027.” https://deadline.com/2026/06/uk-social-media-ban-under-16s-x-youtube-tiktok-reddit-1236956163/ https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cly7njlw95qo
