Horne Stan Laurel (himself), the black sheep of the MacLaurel clan, and his pal Oliver Hardy (himself) stow away on a ship bound for Scotland to claim Laurel's share of his late uncle Angus Ian MacLaurel's estate. But Laurel's inheritance consists of a snuffbox and a dusty pair of bagpipes. MacLaurel leaves his fortune to his beautiful granddaughter, Lorna (June Lang), on the condition that she travels to the Raj and stay with her aunt Lady Violet Ormsby (Anne Grey) and Lady Vi's handsome brother, Colonel Gregor MacGregor (Vernon Steele). Meanwhile Laurel and Hardy are inadvertently drafted into His Majesty's Army and sent to India with Lorna's true love, Alan Douglas (William Janney). Now, in a tale of heroism, romance and incredible dumb luck, Laurel and Hardy will stop a native revolt, thwart Lady Violet's plot to steal the inheritance and reunite the lovers Laurel and Alan. One of the best feature films Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy made during their tenure at Hal Roach Studio, BONNIE SCOTLAND has now been newly restored from original nitrate protection elements. ---End Quote---
