"textContent": "Specifically, I mean that you own at least the first film in a franchise, and skipped over one or some sequels to then own a later installment in that franchise. Specifically ones that follow the same characters or some continuity, not necessarily counting anthologies, cinematic universes, reboots, or movies told out of order. Like if you own a bunch of Star Wars films but skipped Solo, that's not exactly what I'm referring to. I mean more like owning John Wick 1 and 4, but skipping 2 and 3.\n\nI generally don't have this happen, but it's more so because I tend to be a completionist. Instead, there is almost an opposite effect. You'll sometimes see my posts read that \"I won't buy this sequel now, but if a later film comes out and is good then I'll buy them both.\" Like maybe I can't justify the purchase on its own, but only once more is realized later. That is an active case for The Accountant franchise right now, for example (I own the first one, but won't buy the second one unless there is a good third film I want to buy).\n\nI went through my entire library, and keeping the above qualifiers in mind, the only instance I can spot is with *the Terminator franchise. I own T1, T2, and Dark Fate*, skipping Rise of the Machines, Salvation, and Genisys. Although, one could argue that DF is a direct successor to T2, and therefore doesn't count. Everything else is consecutive without gaps, even if I don't own all of the later films. But like I said, this often comes as a result of me being a completionist, especially for story's sake.",
