Deadline reports that a TV drama, tentatively titled Growing Up Dion, is in the works with support from the star’s family. The show would be based on Dion, A Family Saga, a book written by Céline’s nephew Jimmy Dion. One can only hope the eventual show begins with Young Céline declaring “I’m Alive!” The report suggests the series would cover Dion’s formative years in Quebec and her relationships with her parents and 13 siblings. One of those siblings, Dion’s brother Jacques, is credited as a producer on Growing Up Dion. “This series represents something deeply meaningful for our family, as it captures the spirit, struggles, and love that defined our upbringing,” he told Deadline. “We are proud to finally share this story with the world in a way that feels true to who we are.” For a star of her stature, there are relatively few Céline Dion biopics. The 2020 French film Aline applied the thinnest veneer of fictionalization to Dion’s life story. The less said about the 2008 CBC-TV movie Céline, the better. The most interesting antecedent is an English-language biopic, Céline Before Céline, that series writer (and noted nephew) Jimmy Dion was reportedly working on before 2020. ---End Quote---
