ATProto App Ideas

I'm exploring the different apps built on ATProto and I didn't yet have a blog post from WhiteWind!

So here we are.

Someone asked me for ideas for sample apps they could build on ATProto to learn more about it. Based purely on my exploration this morning:

Exercise Tracking

I could see an open social exercise app being quite popular. I haven't found a lexicon for defining an exercise schema yet, but I'd recommend reaching out to the community at https://github.com/lexicon-community to discuss. Endurance activities would probably be distinct from something involving reps and sets, I'd imagine.

Challenges

Once the exercise lexicon has been defined, I can see lots of apps built on top of that data. Maybe I want to compete against my three best friends for who can walk the most in the month? An app that allows you to define challenges that folks can join and then reports out where each participant stands in the rankings would be fun to build too. I think you could take advantage of events scheduled through https://smokesignal.events/ to help with this. Awarding badges through https://badge.blue/ would be a fun addition.
