Tinglepost 396: This Anatomically Correct Heart Gets Me Off For Valentine’s Day

power-handmaiden: > I remember being surprised when I first made my list of tinglers and I found that there were more Thanksgiving tinglers than Christmas tinglers. (I’m not sure if this is still true after the 3 Christmas tinglers that came out this past December, but I know it was true before that ) But then it clicked, seeing how tinglers are a medium through which Dr. Tingle works through complicated feelings. Much in the same fashion, it makes sense that most Valentine’s Day tinglers are not about the conventional holiday theme of celebrating an established relationship. > > From everything Dr. Tingle says online, he’s in a happy marriage. That’s a personal topic I’m not inclined to comment or speculate on too much, but I will say this one thing: I think it speaks well of his life with Sweet Barbara that established relationship conflicts do not show up in these tinglers. Many Thanksgiving tinglers are about the more obvious conflicts of a family holiday. This tingler, and several other Valentine’s Day tinglers, approach more introspective topics centering on the protagonists’ internal life more than their relationships. > > The focus of this tingler is on appreciation for one’s life and circumstances. That is the core of this tingler, above romance and sex, despite being an erotic story released for a romantic holiday. It’s a rare tingler where the sexual attraction between the protagonist and the love interest is not immediate; it builds from the protagonist appreciating and learning from the living heart’s attitude. The emotional arc is admirably deep for the short length of the story it spans.
