"textContent": "Asked about eQUEST.\n\nJust wanted to share this since I was having the same issue. Never had this on my old computer but it started happening constantly on Windows 11.\n\nTurns out eQUEST is corrupting its own .ini file every single time it closes. Here's what fixed it for me:\n\nGo to `C:\\Program Files (x86)\\eQUEST 3-65\\eQUEST 3-65-7175 Data` and find the `eQUEST.ini` file.\n\nRight-click it → Properties → Security tab → Edit\n\nClick Add, type in `Everyone`, hit Check Names, then OK.\n\nNow with Everyone selected, check the boxes for:\n\n * Read (Allow)\n * Read & Execute (Allow)\n\n\n\nDon't check anything else. Click Apply and OK.\n\nThen on the General tab of the same Properties window, check the Read-only box at the bottom.\n\nThat's it. eQUEST should open every time now without issues.\n\n**Switching between DOE 2.2 and 2.3**\n\nSo here's the annoying part - because the file is locked down now, you can't switch DOE engines the normal way through eQUEST. You have to do it manually, but it's not that bad once you know how.\n\nWhen you need to switch engines:\n\n 1. Unlock the file first - right-click eQUEST.ini → Properties, uncheck Read-only, then go to Security → Edit and remove the Everyone group.\n\n 2. Open eQUEST.ini with Notepad (just right-click → Open with)\n\n 3. Look for the [preferences] section. You'll see a line that says:\n\n DOE2Version=\n\n\n\n\nChange it to 0 for DOE 2.2, or 2 for DOE 2.3.\n\n 4. Save it and close Notepad.\n\n 5. Now lock it back down - add the Everyone group back with Read permissions only, and check Read-only again.\n\n\n",
