The Ultimate Guide To San Diego Concerts, Comedy & Music Events For The Rest Of 2026
San Diego's 2026 live music calendar is, without exaggeration, one of the strongest the city has ever seen. Stadiums, amphitheaters, waterfront spots, intimate venues, and outdoor festival grounds are all packed with acts spanning every genre imaginable. There's legacy rock, modern pop, alt-indie, hip-hop, country, jazz, comedy, Broadway, and everything in between. Here is the ultimate list to San Diego live entertainment for the remainder of the year.
As someone who attends dozens of concerts and music events every year, I can say with some authority that the calendar ahead is worth planning your entire social life around. What follows is a guide to the year - the full picture as it currently exists, plus the shows I'd personally be happiest at. The highlights list is opinionated and deliberate. These aren't necessarily the biggest names or the most expensive tickets. They're the shows that feel most alive to me, most irreplaceable, most worth standing in for.
__The Shows I'd Be at If I Could Be Everywhere __ Paul Simon at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park (Tuesday, June 9): The Rady Shell on a summer evening, and Paul Simon performing Seven Psalms in full before pivoting to a career retrospective that spans five decades of some of the most enduring songwriting in American music. This is the kind of show you tell people about for years. A Quiet Celebration is exactly the right framing - intimate in spirit even at this scale, and built for an audience that actually listens. Don't miss this one.
Blue Öyster Cult at San Diego County Fair Paddock Concert Series (Wednesday, June 10): The San Diego Fair kicks off with a bang! The County Fair Paddock Series has a way of delivering unexpected gems, and Blue Öyster Cult is exactly that. "Don't Fear The Reaper" alone justifies the price of admission, but the band's catalog runs considerably deeper than its most famous song, and their live show has always been sharper and heavier than the classic rock radio reputation suggests.
Jake Shimabukuro at Humphreys Concerts By the Bay (Wednesday, June 10): Jake Shimabukuro is one of those performers who genuinely has to be witnessed live to be fully understood. What he does with a ukulele - the range, the speed, the emotional depth - shouldn't be physically possible, and watching it happen at Humphreys, one of San Diego's finest outdoor venues, is about as good as it gets for a mid-week summer evening. No matter what you think or expect, trust me, you'll love it.
Chicago at San Diego County Fair Grandstand (Wednesday, June 10): Chicago has been doing this for more than fifty years, and they remain one of the most musically accomplished touring acts in classic rock. The horn section alone sets them apart from virtually every other band of their era still on the road. The Fair Grandstand gives this a loose, summer-night feel that suits them perfectly.
Rod Stewart at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre (Friday, June 12): The One Last Time tour is exactly what it says, and whatever your feelings about farewell tours, Rod Stewart's catalog is genuine and deep and his voice, even now, carries something irreplaceable. "Maggie May," "Tonight's the Night," "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy," "Have I Told You Lately" - these songs are embedded in a generation of memories, and hearing them under an open sky in summer is worth every minute.
Charlie Musselwhite at Belly Up Tavern (Tuesday, June 16): Charlie Musselwhite has been playing the blues harmonica at the highest level since the 1960s, and catching him at the Belly Up, one of the San Diego's and the country's genuinely great small venues, is a gift. This is the kind of show that reminds you what live music is actually for. Raw, real, and earned over sixty years of playing.
Toadies at Observatory North Park (Tuesday, June 16): The Toadies made one of the most genuinely unnerving rock records ever made, Rubberneck , in 1994, and their live show still carries the edge of a band that hasn't made peace with anything. The Observatory North Park is the right size for this. Intimate enough that you feel it. To this day, the Toadies mosh pit at Belly Up Tavern is the best I've ever been in.
Ziggy Marley at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre at SDSU (Saturday, June 20): Ziggy Marley carries his father's musical DNA without being constrained by it, and his Brightside Tour is built around positivity and live energy that an outdoor amphitheater amplifies beautifully. A Saturday evening of reggae at the open air theatre is one of those quintessentially San Diego summer experiences.
Bob Dylan at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park (Sunday, June 21): Here's the thing about Dylan live in 2026: you don't know what you're going to get, and that's precisely the point. The Rady Shell against the water, a Sunday evening, and Bob Dylan doing whatever Bob Dylan feels like doing with songs you've known your entire life. That's not a concert. That's an event.
Dave Chappelle at Viejas Arena at SDSU (Sunday, June 21): Dave Chappelle at an arena remains one of the more remarkable things in American comedy. He's polarizing, he's brilliant, and he's genuinely unpredictable on stage in ways that almost no comedian at his level still manages to be. I also love counting how many cigarettes he smokes during his set in non-smoking venues (I'm guessing six). Whatever he does on a Sunday night in San Diego will be talked about the next morning.
Kid Cudi at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre (Saturday, June 27): Kid Cudi's live shows have always functioned more like communal emotional experiences than concerts in the traditional sense. The Rebel Ragers Tour promises that in an outdoor amphitheater setting that'll make the big summer-night energy feel exactly right.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Musical at Moonlight Amphitheatre (Wednesday, July 8 - Saturday, July 25): Moonlight Amphitheatre in San Diego's North County is a genuine cultural treasure, an outdoor theater unlike anything else in the city. With Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , there is no excuse to sit under the sky and watch something delightful. I'll be there.
Afroman at Music Box (Sunday, July 12): Afroman remains one of hip-hop's most unconventional and entertaining figures, best known for the early-2000s smash hit "Because I Got High." In recent years, however, he gained a whole new level of notoriety after turning footage from a controversial 2022 police raid on his Ohio home into music videos, merchandise, and viral content that drew national attention and left the sheriff's department facing widespread ridicule. Whether you know him for the platinum-selling party anthem or his ongoing feud with law enforcement, this Music Box performance promises an evening that's likely to be as unpredictable as the artist himself.
Young the Giant with Cold War Kids and KennyHoopla at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre at SDSU (Wednesday, July 15): This is a mid-week summer show that punches well above its weight. Young the Giant and Cold War Kids are both bands with catalogs built for outdoor singing - anthemic, melodic, and designed for exactly this kind of warm evening at an open-air amphitheater. KennyHoopla as the opener adds a younger, more abrasive energy that makes the whole night feel alive from the start.
Nate Bargatze at Pechanga Arena (Thursday, July 16): Nate Bargatze is in the middle of one of the most remarkable runs in modern stand-up. Clean, observational, and genuinely funny without needing to shock anyone, his ability to fill an arena and still feel like he's just talking to you is a specific kind of craft that very few comedians pull off.
Tower of Power at Humphreys Concerts By the Bay (Saturday, July 18): Tower of Power has one of the tightest horn sections in popular music, and they have for fifty years. Humphreys on a Saturday night is the perfect setting with the bay behind the stage, the sound carrying perfectly, and a band that has never stopped working at the level of professionalism and groove that built their reputation. A supremely satisfying live experience.
Ed Sheeran at Petco Park (Tuesday, July 21): Ed Sheeran at a stadium, all alone with his loop pedal and guitar, remains one of the more impressive single-performer feats in live music. The Loop Tour at Petco Park is the kind of show that converts skeptics. It's going to be a good night.
Rainbow Kitten Surprise at Gallagher Square at Petco Park (Thursday, July 23): Rainbow Kitten Surprise at an outdoor venue on a summer night is borderline ideal, although Gallagher Square really isn't my favorite. Their music - emotionally precise indie-folk with production that knows exactly what it's doing - translates beautifully in open air. This one will be special.
The Fray with Dashboard Confessional at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre at SDSU (Saturday, July 25): This double-bill is built for a specific kind of catharsis. Both bands made records that meant something to a very large number of people at a very specific moment in their lives, and hearing those songs in an outdoor amphitheater in summer is exactly the right delivery mechanism. The nostalgia here is earned.
Zach Bryan at Snapdragon Stadium (Friday, July 31 & Saturday, August 1): Two nights. A stadium. Zach Bryan got here almost entirely on word of mouth and the sheer emotional weight of his songwriting. The scale of this booking is a statement, and I expect both nights to be the kind of show people talk about for weeks after.
St. Vincent with the San Diego Symphony at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park (Saturday, August 1): Annie Clark and the San Diego Symphony at the Shell is a genuinely intriguing combination. St. Vincent's music has always had an orchestral dimension hiding underneath the guitar and production so hearing what that becomes when you remove the hiding is worth every minute.
Sarah McLachlan at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park (Sunday, August 2): McLachlan in this setting, on a Sunday evening at the waterfront, is as close to perfect as a summer concert gets. Her voice has only deepened, her catalog only grown more resonant with time. This one will feel like a gift and I will most certainly cry at some point.
Death Cab for Cutie at Gallagher Square at Petco Park (Tuesday, August 4): Death Cab for Cutie have made some of the most quietly devastating indie rock records of the past twenty-five years, and watching that catalog expand to fill a ballpark-adjacent outdoor space is genuinely moving. Ben Gibbard's songwriting translates at any scale. This one will feel bigger than expected and more personal than it has any right to.
Modest Mouse at The Sound Del Mar (Wednesday, August 5): Modest Mouse at The Sound Del Mar is the right band in the right room. Isaac Brock's agitated, brilliant songwriting has always worked best in a space where you can feel the friction, and The Sound, pressed up against the coast and hidden within the fairgrounds, is exactly that. Sun Atoms and the deep catalog together in a venue this size is a very compelling Wednesday evening.
O.A.R. at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre at SDSU (Sunday, August 9): Three decades of road-tested musicianship and a fanbase that shows up like family. O.A.R. at an outdoor amphitheater on a summer Sunday is comfort food for the soul in the best possible sense. They've been doing this long enough that every show feels like a celebration.
Santana and The Doobie Brothers at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre (Tuesday, August 11): Two bands that have never stopped finding ways to make what they do feel alive. Carlos Santana's guitar remains one of the most immediately recognizable sounds in popular music, and pairing him with the Doobie Brothers makes for a night that earns every bit of its nostalgia.
George Thorogood & The Destroyers at Humphreys Concerts By the Bay (Wednesday, August 12): Humphreys is one of San Diego's finest venues under any circumstances, and George Thorogood there is a near-perfect match. Blues-driven, whiskey-soaked, and built on decades of no-nonsense live performance. This is how live music is supposed to feel - BAD TO THE BONE!
** **
Toto + Christopher Cross + The Romantics at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre (Wednesday, August 12): The yacht rock triple-bill of the summer. "Africa," "Rosanna," "Sailing," "What Kind of Fool Am I," "Talking in Your Sleep" - this is a setlist built entirely of songs that people know every word to, and the Chula Vista amphitheater on a summer night makes the whole thing feel like one long, sun-drenched memory. Bring the people who think they're above it. They won't be.
Interpol at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park (Saturday, August 15): Interpol's cold, architectural post-punk was made for large spaces and dramatic lighting, and the Rady Shell provides both. Turn On the Bright Lights is one of the most fully realized debut albums in rock history, and twenty-five years later the band plays it like they mean it. A summer night at the Shell with Interpol is a perfect, slightly sinister way to spend a Saturday.
RÜFÜS DU SOL at Petco Park (Saturday, August 15): RÜFÜS at Petco Park is a legitimate event. The Australian trio has built one of the most devoted live followings in electronic music, and their productions - all organic instrumentation filtered through immersive electronics and light design - are genuinely spectacular at stadium scale. The August heat and the Petco setting make this one of the summer's most anticipated shows.
Tedeschi Trucks Band at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park (Sunday, August 16): There are few bands alive that can do what Tedeschi Trucks Band does live. Susan Tedeschi's voice is one of the best in American music, Derek Trucks plays slide guitar at a level that invites genuine superlatives, and the full band - horns, percussion, backing vocalists - creates something that sits at the intersection of blues, soul, rock, and jazz without belonging entirely to any of them. The Shell's acoustics are a perfect match. One of the summer's essential shows.
Soul Asylum at Belly Up Tavern (Sunday, August 16): Few bands embody the sound of 1990s alternative rock quite like Soul Asylum. Best known for Grammy-winning hits like "Runaway Train," "Black Gold," and "Misery," the Minneapolis band continues to deliver energetic live performances more than four decades after forming. Catching them at the intimate Belly Up Tavern offers a rare chance to experience one of alt-rock's most enduring acts in a venue where every seat feels close to the stage.
Noah Kahan at Petco Park (Monday, August 17): Noah Kahan on The Great Divide Tour at Petco Park is a remarkable booking for someone whose music feels fundamentally intimate. But that's the thing, his songwriting carries in any space. The folk-pop emotional core translates whether you're in a club or a ballpark. I'm curious to see it at this scale, although the ticket prices for this one are absolutely bonkers.
Jeff Goldblum & The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra with the San Diego Symphony at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park (Sunday, August 23): This is one of those shows that you either get or you don't. I get it completely. Weird is my thing. Cringe is my comfort zone. Jeff Goldblum is a genuine jazz musician, the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra is excellent, and adding the San Diego Symphony at the Shell makes this an event. It will be joyful and slightly absurd and completely memorable. Sign me up twice.
The Roots and Nas with De La Soul at Gallagher Square at Petco Park (Thursday, August 27): This is the hip-hop booking of the summer. The Roots as the backing band, Nas as headliner, De La Soul on the bill - this is a night about legacy, craft, and what live hip-hop looks like when it's treated as music rather than spectacle. Gallagher Square is the right size for it.
Muse with Portugal. The Man and The Temper Trap at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre (Saturday, August 29): Muse's live shows are among the most fully realized productions in rock music. Enormous sound, enormous visuals, enormous ambition. This is the kind of concert that reminds you why the amphitheater format exists.
Guns N' Roses at Snapdragon Stadium (Wednesday, September 2): There will come a time when Guns N' Roses stop touring, and everyone will wish they'd gone. Snapdragon Stadium is the good stage for them - just big enough for the spectacle, close enough to feel the weight of the catalog. Appetite for Destruction alone justifies the price of admission. Despite Axel's voice being shot, Slash still fuckin' rocks.
The Phantom of the Opera at San Diego Civic Theatre (Wednesday, September 2 - Sunday, September 13): Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical returns to San Diego for a limited engagement at the Civic Theatre. Featuring one of the most recognizable scores in theater history, breathtaking staging, and a timeless story of romance, obsession, and mystery beneath the Paris Opera House, The Phantom of the Opera remains one of the most successful and beloved Broadway productions ever created. Whether it's your first time or your fifth, this is one of those rare theatrical events that truly lives up to the hype.
Deep Purple with Kansas and Jefferson Starship at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre (Tuesday, September 8): A triple bill that reads like a greatest-hits list of classic rock's second tier, which is to say, bands who wrote songs that have outlasted entire cultural moments. Deep Purple headlining with Kansas and Jefferson Starship in support is a night of unimpeachable musicianship and deep catalog satisfaction.
Thievery Corporation at The Sound Del Mar (Thursday, September 10): Thievery Corporation's blend of dub, bossa nova, trip-hop, and global influences has always sounded best in a setting where you can actually absorb the textures. The Sound Del Mar is intimate, coastal, right-sized and ideal. This is one of those shows where the setting and the music align so perfectly it feels designed. This will be like the tenth time I've seen this band, and I don't care.
Johnny Blue Skies at Viejas Arena at SDSU (Sunday, September 13): Sturgill Simpson under a different name, making music that is entirely itself. Johnny Blue Skies is one of the most genuinely original artists working in any genre right now, and catching this project at this scale is the kind of opportunity you don't let pass.
Journey at Pechanga Arena (Monday, September 14): Journey's catalog is simply undeniable. Whatever your feelings about legacy touring, those songs land in a room full of people, and the current lineup has proven it can deliver them. This is a straightforward night of transcendent pop-rock, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Godsmack at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre (Tuesday, September 15): Godsmack on the Rise of Rock World Tour at Chula Vista is a heavy rock show that will deliver exactly what it promises: big riffs, big drums, big production, and a catalog built for outdoor amphitheater volume. Sully Erna is one of the more compelling frontmen in mainstream hard rock, and the band has never been a disappointment live.
A.J. Croce at Humphreys Concerts By the Bay (Saturday, September 19): San Diego's own A.J. Croce performing his father Jim Croce's catalog at Humphreys is something genuinely special. "Time in a Bottle," "Operator," "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown," "I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song" - songs that are part of the fabric of American popular music, played by the son who never got to know the man who wrote them. This one hits differently.
The Temptations with The Four Tops at Humphreys Concerts By the Bay (Sunday, September 20): Motown royalty, back to back, at one of San Diego's best outdoor venues. The Temptations and The Four Tops represent the absolute peak of one of American music's most important eras, and the catalog between these two groups is essentially inexhaustible. "My Girl," "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone," "I Can't Help Myself," "Reach Out I'll Be There", this is a Sunday evening that earns every moment.
Collective Soul at Humphreys Concerts By the Bay (Friday, September 25): Another perfect Humphreys pairing. Collective Soul's catalog runs deeper than the hits suggest, and their live show has the quality of a band that has always treated the stage seriously. A Friday night at Humphreys with these guys is a very good evening.
Jack White at The Sound Del Mar (Wednesday, September 30): The former White Stripes frontman at The Sound Del Mar is a small-venue miracle. This is one of the most compelling live performers working in any genre, in a room that holds a fraction of what he could fill, playing what will certainly be a set designed to do exactly what he wants it to do. This is the one you regret missing. Faces will melt.
The Wallflowers at Belly Up Tavern (Thursday, October 8): Bob Dylan's son, Jakob, is one of the underrated songwriters of his generation, and The Wallflowers at the Belly Up is a perfect match of artist and room. "One Headlight" remains a bona fide classic, but the band's catalog rewards attention well beyond the hits, and in a venue this intimate the details actually land.
Jack Johnson and Hermanos Gutiérrez at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre (Friday, October 9): The pairing here is genuinely inspired. Hermanos Gutiérrez's cinematic instrumentals alongside Jack Johnson's breezy, coastal songwriting, these are two acts that share a commitment to warmth and texture over flash. This is a perfect fall-evening outdoor show.
Geese at Gallagher Square at Petco Park (Tuesday, October 13): GEESE is one of the most interesting young rock bands working right now. They're angular, ambitious, and impossible to place in a neat genre box. Gallagher Square gives them a larger stage than they've typically played in San Diego. This one is worth every bit of attention.
Shakey Graves at The Sound Del Mar (Friday, October 16): Shakey Graves is a songwriter who turns solo performance into something that feels like a full band, although he has a full band too. The Sound Del Mar is ideal for him, and I know from seeing him there. It's a venue where you can hear everything he's doing and understand exactly how remarkable it is.
Mission Bayfest 2026 at Mission Bay Mariners Point Park (Friday–Sunday, October 16–18) : Over three days you'll have the chance to see Rebelution, Steel Pulse, Kolohe Kai, Common Kings, Soja, The Offspring, The Interupters, Goldfinger, The Expendables, and so many more in a waterfront location in Mission Beach. This event rocks and Mikey Beats did a great job putting it together. Triple air horn for this one!
Bonnie Raitt at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park (Saturday, October 17): Bonnie Raitt is sixty years into a career defined by ferocious slide guitar, deeply expressive vocals, and songwriting that doesn't flinch. Live in 2026 at The Shell is as good a late-season outdoor concert as you could reasonably ask for. The combination of her catalog and that setting on a fall Saturday should be reason enough.
Foster The People with Goth Babe at Gallagher Square at Petco Park (Wednesday, October 21): Foster The People have made some genuinely excellent records that exist well beyond "Pumped Up Kicks," and Goth Babe's dreamy, laid-back aesthetic makes this an unusually well-matched double bill. An evening that will feel lighter and more satisfying than you might expect.
Weezer at Viejas Arena at SDSU (Wednesday, October 21): The Gathering tour at Viejas is Weezer doing what Weezer does, which is make arena rock feel like it belongs to the people who were picked last in gym class, and mean it as a compliment to everyone in the room. The Blue Album and Pinkerton cuts will make the crowd lose their minds. Everything else will be a bonus.
Dermot Kennedy at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre at SDSU (Thursday, October 22): Dermot Kennedy's voice is one of the more extraordinary instruments in contemporary music - a baritone that can carry a stadium or stop a room cold - and The Weight of the World tour brings his biggest material to the outdoor SDSU theatre on a fall evening. This is the kind of show that converts people.
Gorillaz at Pechanga Arena (Sunday, October 25): Gorillaz live is one of the stranger and more rewarding experiences in music - a virtual band that somehow becomes more real on stage than almost any band with conventional human members. The production is extraordinary, the catalog is vast, and no two setlists feel exactly alike. We will be there.
Doja Cat at Viejas Arena at SDSU (Tuesday, October 27): Tour Ma Vie World Tour at Viejas Arena is a late-year blockbuster with good reason. Doja Cat has built a live show that actually justifies the arena format rather than just occupying it. Expect production, spectacle, and a setlist designed to remind you exactly how many hits she has.
Tom Jones at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park (Tuesday, October 27): Tom Jones at 86 is still performing, still commanding a stage, and still in possession of a voice that made him one of the most distinctive performers of the 20th century. Come Together at The Shell is a once-in-a-while opportunity that time will eventually close. Go.
Gary Clark Jr. at Humphreys Concerts By the Bay (Tuesday, October 27 & Wednesday, October 28): Two nights at Humphreys, and both worth attending. Gary Clark Jr. is the closest thing to a genuine guitar hero that contemporary music has produced. He's rooted in blues, expanded into soul and rock and hip-hop, and devastating live in ways that recordings only partially capture. Humphreys keeps everything close enough that you feel every note. This is one of the fall's unmissable bookings.
UB40 at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre at SDSU (Saturday, October 31): Halloween night. Outdoor amphitheater. UB40's catalog of reggae-pop perfection. "Red Red Wine" into an October night with a crowd that knows every word. This is not complicated. This is simply a very good time.
Fitz and The Tantrums at Belly Up Tavern (Tuesday, November 3 & Wednesday, November 4): Known for infectious hits like "HandClap," "Out of My League," and "The Walker," Fitz and The Tantrums helped define the indie-pop boom of the 2010s with their blend of soul, pop, and dance-floor energy. The Los Angeles-based band has become a festival favorite thanks to their high-energy live shows, making this rare two-night stand at the intimate Belly Up Tavern one of the most sought-after club bookings of the fall.
Dana Carvey at Humphreys Concerts By the Bay (Saturday, November 7): A comedy legend and one of the most iconic cast members in Saturday Night Live history, Dana Carvey remains best known for unforgettable characters including Garth Algar, the Church Lady, and his spot-on impressions of presidents and political figures. With decades of stand-up, television, and film success behind him, Carvey continues to prove why he's considered one of the most influential comedians of his generation. It seems like a fun person to see live in a small venue.
Teddy Swims at Pechanga Arena San Diego (Friday, November 13): After exploding from viral YouTube covers to becoming one of the biggest breakout stars in music, Teddy Swims has quickly become known for his powerhouse voice and genre-blending mix of soul, R&B, pop, and country influences. Fresh off the massive success of hits like "Lose Control," which dominated charts around the world, Swims brings one of the year's hottest tours to Pechanga Arena for what promises to be an emotional, singalong-filled evening.
The full calendar below represents more than 150 confirmed concerts, musicals, comedy shows, and festivals across San Diego County for the remainder of 2026. It is comprehensive but not complete - this city announces shows constantly, and the list will continue to grow through the year.
