San Diego’s rowdiest Independence Day weekend tradition is stripping down and turning back up. Almost Nakey Freedom Fest returns to Mission Beach on Saturday, July 4, transforming Belmont Park’s beachfront FIT Social venue into a red-white-and-booze-soaked daylong blowout complete with massive inflatables, multiple stages, beer pong, dunk tanks, glizzies, and thousands of barely dressed revelers partying directly on the sand. Promo code SDVILLE saves on tickets.

Running from 5pm to 10pm at FIT Social, the sprawling oceanfront venue formerly known as Wave House, the 2026 edition of Almost Nakey Freedom Fest marks another year for one of San Diego’s most unapologetically over-the-top summer parties. Organizers are once again leaning heavily into the absurdist Americana energy that has helped the event evolve from a relatively small rooftop party into one of the region’s most recognizable summer holiday festivals.

This year’s event takes place against the backdrop of Belmont Park’s ongoing centennial celebration, adding another layer of nostalgia and spectacle to a venue already deeply tied to San Diego beach culture. FIT Social’s sprawling footprint along Ocean Front Walk offers what organizers describe as the only Fourth of July music festival staged directly on the ocean in San Diego, with two stages, five-plus bars, experiential activations, and a redesigned festival layout intended to maximize both chaos and coastline.

Almost Nakey has built its identity around blending electronic music festival energy with a distinctly Mission Beach kind of lawless summer aesthetic: American flag bikinis, jorts, spray tans, pit vipers, ironic patriotism, and the kind of crowd that somehow treats both beer pong and house music with Olympic seriousness. The event’s branding openly leans into that culture, even naming this year’s entry-level passes “Founding Father” tickets and dubbing the VIP experience the “Glizzinator.”

General admission tickets are available online starting at $69, while the two-pack Founding Father option drops the per-ticket price slightly for attendees rolling in pairs. VIP passes are priced at $140 and include private entry, private bars, upgraded restrooms, and access to indoor lounge areas within Belmont Park’s Coaster Terrace space. Organizers are also offering VIP table and cabana packages for larger groups seeking a more elevated experience. With any legit San Diego event, promo code SDVILLE unlocks savings on tickets.

The festival’s increasingly elaborate production has become part of its appeal. This year’s marketing materials tease “massive inflatables,” “big-ass surprises,” and the return of “Mount Ravemore,” an oversized visual installation parodying Mount Rushmore where attendees may once again have the chance to see themselves immortalized in inflatable festival absurdity.

The event also continues reflecting the broader evolution of San Diego’s beachfront party scene, particularly in Mission Beach, where Belmont Park and the former Wave House property have increasingly shifted toward large-scale experiential events after years of uncertainty surrounding the iconic venue. Once best known nationally for its wave machine and surf culture identity, the property has gradually transformed into one of San Diego’s more flexible live event spaces, capable of hosting everything from EDM festivals to branded nightlife experiences directly on the sand.

Almost Nakey’s rise has mirrored that transition. What began years ago as a niche party concept has grown into a full-scale Independence Day destination attracting attendees from across Southern California and beyond. Its social media presence now regularly drives sellouts, and organizers say this year’s presale inventory moved quickly enough to force additional ticket releases.

The event is strictly 21-and-up, cashless, and rain or shine. Organizers also note that clear bag policies will be enforced and outside coolers are prohibited.

Almost Nakey Freedom Fest takes place Saturday, July 4, from 5pm to 10pm at FIT Social at Belmont Park, located at 3125 Ocean Front Walk in San Diego’s Mission Beach neighborhood. Tickets are available online, and promo code SDVILLE saves on admission while supplies last.
