CH 158 - The Herbalist Guild
The local herbalist chapter was open to the public until five, around the clock for members. The man at the front desk looked up when the heavy door closed behind Sorrel. Almost like he was expecting them. He sat up, smiled, and asked them to approach the desk.
Sorrel paused for a second, taking in the quiet room around them. It was like being in any other office, minus the computers and copy machine. But there were filing cabinets behind the main counter, tables, chairs, and bookshelves chock full of books on medicinal herbs, fungi, and the various instruments used to concoct potions. There was a surprising lack of greenery, with only a few tall houseplants guarding the corners.
And mushrooms. Blueish mushrooms suspended from the ceiling, casting a pale glow on the walls. Sorrel noted the skylights and windows that illuminated the main space. At night, the moon and mushrooms filled that void, perhaps the rare magic light.
