Obviously, we all want to do our part to help neighbors struggling with food insecurity.

On Sunday, the Bull City hosts its fifth annual Durham Hunger Day in conjunction with World Hunger Day. The theme this year: "Nourishing Neighbors."

The event aims to raise awareness about food insecurity while celebrating the people and organizations working to strengthen Durham County's local food system.

"Durham Hunger Day is an opportunity to honor the remarkable work happening across Durham to support neighbors facing food insecurity," said Raina Goldstein Bunnag, the county's food security coordinator, in a news release. "Each year, our community looks forward to this joyful event as a chance to share good food, reconnect, and learn about vital local resources."

Activities include:

• Music
• Family fun
• Food trucks
• Giveaways
• Free snacks
• Bounce house

It's a free event, but donations are welcome to a fund for feeding neighbors, with a goal of $12,500. (At this writing, the fund has raised $2,032.) The event runs 3 to 6 p.m. at Durham Central Park, 501 Foster St.
