Durham City Council rejected one development proposal, delayed action on another, and approved a third Monday night during a series of hearings that put the city’s growth policies under close scrutiny.

The cases involved land on Cheek Road, Treyburn Corporate Park, and Sherron Road. Together, they showed how council members are weighing new housing, industrial development, water and sewer access, rural preservation, traffic, and affordability.
