"textContent": "Inland Empire Law Weekly would like to invite you to CalMatters' VotingMatters event this coming Friday.\n\nThe Sacramento-based nonprofit news publication, for which I work part-time, is hosting 16 live events across the state to get voters to talk over election issues.\n\nImagine that: talking over election issues instead of arguing online. Do we even remember how to do that?\n\nI believe we do. If you'd like to prove me right (or wrong), come on by after work. CalMatters is providing free tacos, so no need to fuel up before you attend.\n\nThe event will be held at the Greater Riverside Chamber of Commerce (3985 University Ave., Riverside) Friday, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Daniel Eduardo Hernandez, reporter at the Riverside Record, and Stephanie Hastings-Miranda, editor of Community Forward Redlands, will be present.\n\nYou can be late, you can bring your kids, you can bring your date. I'm not telling you that you should, but if you do, we won't stop you.\n\nIf you still haven't decided your vote for governor, insurance commissioner or superintendent, but you care about how the state government changes the laws, how your insurance premiums are increasing or how your children's' education managed, then this is the Friday evening activity for you.\n\nAs CalMatters says: \"Together, we bring people together for civil, issue-focused conversations that Californians have called 'engaging,' 'informative' and 'democracy at its best.'\"\n\nWe hope to see you there.",
