Books at the intersection of hardcore ecology and human history

Basically, I want to know if there is a book (fiction or non-fiction) that draws parallels between ecological behaviours of humans vs other organisms. More specifically, whether human historical events can be explained with ecological behaviour or not, if that makes sense.
