Long books that are easy to read and have huge payoffs with awesome characters

I’ve recently loved some longer books. Like 7-800+ pages for reference so nothing insane but not super quick books either. I’ve had mixed opinions about the ones I’ve read so far so looking for others. Lonesome dove – 6/10 start. Interesting characters but far from a page turner.
