What to read after The Dog Stars

I just finished The Dog Stars and I really liked it. I needed something short and sweet after reading The Devils and Swan Song immediately prior. What else can I read that’s similar in theme but is not an 800 page commitment right now? Are other Peter Heller books just as good? by Brilliant_Clue_5298
