Convince me to read (listen to) Lonesome Dove

I see this book recommended a lot but I’m afraid of reading spoilers. I don’t particularly like westerns but I’m looking for a long story to get absorbed in. Tell me why I should use my monthly audible allowance in it without spoilers by ajddvm
