Any recommendations for books about alien invasions?

I'm looking for something like H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds but more modern, or The 5th Wave but for adults/older audiences. Preferably, I'd like something where we can see the invasion begin and the characters have to fight for survival. by lonnevox
