Just read about ‘Alpine Divorce’. Any fictional books about someone abandoning their partner mid trail/ hike?

I've always loved fictional books about camping or hiking, so I'll take any suggestions there too, but I've just read about the phenomenon 'Alpine Divorce' where a more experienced hiker takes their partner out on the trail and leaves them behind.
