Looking a book/series with the same vibe as the Sector General series by James White. Any recs?

I'm looking for a series with the same vibe that Sector General has. I really like how the series has excellent world-building, wholesome character friendships, and is engaging without being too emotionally fraught with interpersonal tension. by Equivalent_Safe1365
