"textContent": "Former England defender Gary Neville (Picture: Sky Sports)\n\nGary Neville urged Thomas Tuchel not to overreact after England’s goalless draw against Ghana, but said he would make two changes for their final World Cup group game versus Panama.\n\nThe Three Lions got their tournament off to the perfect start with an impressive and free-flowing 4-2 win over 2018 World Cup runners-up and 2022 semi-finalists Croatia.\n\nBut Tuchel’s side were swiftly brought back down to earth in their second group game against Ghana, failing to break down a spirited Carlos Queiroz side in a 0-0 draw.\n\nAnd while England remain top of Group L and in pole position to qualify for the knockout stages, Neville said they will have to find a different way of playing to break down a stubborn Panama on Saturday and get back to winning ways.\n\n## Don't miss a World Cup moment\n\n(Picture: Getty)\n\n\nWe're witnessing history at this World Cup – our daily newsletter helps you make the most of it. Sign up.\n\n‘All the top teams have to do this,’ Neville told Sky Sports. ‘Manchester City under Pep Guardiola have spent probably 90 per cent of their games in the last 10 years, camped in on the edge of the opposition box, attacking the opposition box where all the defenders are all in a very concentrated space.\n\n‘At Manchester United when we were playing, when teams came back to Old Trafford and they sat deep, it’s really difficult to break down teams sometimes.\n\n‘And what I think England will do is learn from that game against Ghana the other day that maybe putting more crosses in the box, getting more bodies in the box earlier in the game.\n\nEngland are preparing for their final group game versus Panama (Picture: Getty)\n\n‘That’s not saying throw the kitchen sink at it from minute five, but that’s probably just maybe being a little bit more expressive, taking a few more risks with bodies in the box and making sure our set pieces are better.\n\n‘So there are things that I think we can do against Panama that will help us more than they did against Ghana. Maybe Ghana was a bit of a dress rehearsal for certain games that we’re going to face moving forwards.’\n\nWith England still needing a positive result to ensure they finish top of Group L, Tuchel is unlikely to make wholesale changes to his side for this weekend.\n\nThomas Tuchel will be seeking an improved performance after England’s 0-0 draw with Ghana (Picture: Getty)\n\nBut Neville believes that the German needs to rethink his set-up on the left flank, and wonders if the creativity of Morgan Rogers may be preferable to Anthony Gordon, who struggled to create chances against Ghana’s low block.\n\n‘I don’t want to pile on to Anthony Gordon because I think he’s a really good player,’ Neville added. ‘He’s had two difficult games, but I didn’t think that Marcus Rashford should come on on that left-hand side. I actually thought it should be Morgan Rogers.\n\n‘I actually like the idea of Morgan Rogers coming off that left-hand side. I think someone who can just sort of connect on that left-hand side a little bit better for us.\n\n‘Someone who’s got a little bit more game intelligence. Rashford and Gordon are explosive. They’re the players that, you know, really, if you’re counter-attacking, you’d want them on the pitch, but if Panama are going to be very difficult to break down, you’re going to need players with a little bit more invention, a little bit more subtlety in the game.\n\nTo view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tvideo\n\nUp Next\n\nPrevious Page\n\nNext Page\n\n‘I think that’s Rogers or Eze there on that left-hand side, I don’t think it’s a Gordon or Rashford argument for me on that left-hand side.’\n\nAnd Neville also wants to see a change at left-back, adding: ‘I like Djed Spence, I’ve got a lot of time for him. I can see that he sort of works hard, but I think Nico O’Reilly will probably come back in.\n\n‘So I’d like to see Nico O’Reilly and Morgan Rogers off that left-hand side.\n\n‘The rest of the team. I’m pretty comfortable leaving it as it is. I don’t think you should throw the baby out with the bathwater just because you’re not being able to break Ghana down.’\n\nEngland are aiming to win the World Cup for the first time since 1966, having come agonisingly close to silverware under previous boss Sir Gareth Southgate.\n\nSouthgate’s England contested back-to-back European Championship finals and went deep in successive World Cups, reaching the semi-finals in 2018 and the quarters four years ago in Qatar.\n\n**For more stories like this, check our sport page**.\n\n**Follow Metro Sport for the latest news on**Facebook,** Twitter and Instagram**.\n\nComment now Comments \nAdd Metro as a Preferred Source on Google\nAdd as preferred source\n",
