"textContent": "Viktor Gyokeres is a candidate for Transfer of the Season (Picture: Getty Images)\n\nThe Premier League Transfer of the Season award has been brought in and there are eight players in contention to win the first edition.\n\nThere were some massive deals done last summer, chiefly by Liverpool who signed Alexander Isak for £125m and Florian Wirtz for £100m.\n\nNeither of those players are troubling the Transfer of the Season nominations.\n\nThere was also big money spent by Newcastle United, who forked out £65m on Nick Woltemade, £55m on Anthony Elanga and £50m on Yoane Wissa.\n\n## The countdown is on\n\nOur seven-day guide to the World Cup is live. 48 teams, 104 games, 1104 players – we've got everything you need to know. Sign up now.\n\nThat trio is also not represented on the shortlist for the new prize.\n\nOf the eight players nominated for the award, some were costly, while others have proved to be very cheap signings and one was even a free transfer.\n\nHere are the eight nominees and how to vote for the Premier League Transfer of the Season.\n\nAntoine Semenyo has impressed since moving to Manchester City in January (Picture: Getty Images)\n\nManchester City have two nominees in Antoine Semenyo and Rayan Cherki, with Semenyo only signing in January but making a huge impact since then.\n\nThe 26-year-old arrived from Bournemouth for a reported £64m and has scored seven goals in 17 games for City since then, having netted 10 times for the Cherries in the first half of the season.\n\nCherki signed from Lyon in June for £30m and has become a favourite for the neutrals with his stylish, eccentric style of play.\n\nAdrien Truffert has been consistently good for Bournemouth (Picture: Getty Images)\n\n**Adrien Truffert** is a lesser known name on the list after joining Bournemouth from Rennes last summer for around £14.4m.\n\nThe France international was brought in to replace Milos Kerkez and has done so brilliantly, playing in all 38 Premier League games.\n\nAnother bargain deal was **Granit Xhaka** moving to Sunderland from Bayer Leverkusen for just £13m and has played a big role in their qualification for Europe next season.\n\nNone of the eight signings were better value than **Dominic Calvert-Lewin** , though, who joined Leeds United on a free transfer after leaving Everton.\n\nThe England international scored 14 league goals to help the Yorkshire side stay up and at just 29 years old, it looks a sensational move for Leeds.\n\n## Premier League Transfer of the Season shortlist\n\n * Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Leeds United\n * Rayan Cherki – Man City\n * Antoine Semenyo – Man City\n * Viktor Gyokeres – Arsenal\n\n\n\nDominic Calvert-Lewin has been vital for Leeds United this season (Picture: Getty Images)\n\n * Senne Lammens – Man Utd\n * Adrien Truffert – Bournemouth\n * Joao Pedro – Chelsea\n * Granit Xhaka – Sunderland\n\n\n\nViktor Gyokeres was one of the headline-grabbing transfer sagas of last summer and he has repaid Arsenal’s faith in him with 14 Premier League goals and 21 in all competitions.\n\nThe Swede cost £63m from Sporting last summer and is now a Premier League champion.\n\nChelsea spent £55m on Joao Pedro from Brighton last year, with the Brazilian scoring 15 league goals and 20 in all competitions.\n\nFinally, Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens arrived from Royal Antwerp for just over £18m and has quickly looked at home and assured for the Red Devils.\n\nVoting is open for Premier League Transfer of the Season until midday on Friday and you can cast your vote here.\n\nComment now Comments \nAdd Metro as a Preferred Source on Google\nAdd as preferred source\n",
