Daniel Osbourne’s (Rob Mallard) life falls apart next week in Coronation Street and he lands hard at rock bottom.

His world has been altered forever after being involved with paedophile Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), and next week, not only does he injure his dad, Ken Barlow (William Roache), but he places both his and son, Bertie’s (Henry Duggan) lives in danger. Is Daniel about to lose everything and everyone?

Todd Grimshaw’s (Gareth Pierce) worries for Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) only intensify when she makes a disastrous attempt to escape her current reality. With no sign of a way out of her predicament, can anyone save Summer?

Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) continues to cause chaos when she turns her evil gaze back toward David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), using his drunken mistake to torture him in an attempt to destroy his relationship with Shona (Julia Goulding). Is Jodie the one enemy devious David can’t defeat?

Elsewhere, Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) ends up in handcuffs, Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) zeroes in on Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) unease, Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) laments to wife, Carla (Alison King) and Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) continues to get his feet under the table.

Will Daniel inflict his fury on Megan? (Picture: ITV)

Initially lifted by Bertie’s present: a ‘World’s Best Teacher’ mug, Daniel is soon brought back down to Earth as Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner) taunts and shoves him in the school corridor, smashing it to pieces as Jake Windass (Bobby Bradshaw) films and he collapses into tears. When Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) ensures Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) won’t serve him any alcohol in his mission to get drunk, Daniel heads out and bumps straight into Megan, and all hell breaks loose.

In the aftermath of Danielle Silverton’s (Natalie Anderson) interview with Lisa, a broken Summer confesses to Todd that she’s considering pleading guilty to manslaughter to receive a lighter sentence. Later, Todd requests his phone back from Lisa, but her response leaves him utterly baffled.

Elsewhere, Carl tells Tyrone that he knows he’s hiding something and is determined to discover what and Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) warns Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) off Idris, who later asks his cousin to manage his legal affairs.

Daniel’s negligence leaves he and Bertie in a precarious situation (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV)

A slip of Jodie’s tongue leads Daniel to realise that she’s behind the troll account terrorising him. While Jodie swears that she has nothing to do with ‘Truthteller2’, he tells everyone at the Rovers what she’s done. Later, Bertie tries to make his own tea when a drunken Daniel conks out, but when something sets alight, Bertie’s forced to flee, leaving his dad alone and unconscious.

Jodie’s friendly offer of an ear when David and Shona have a squabble quickly turns sinister when she presses him to remember that when he climbed into bed with her, he said her name, therefore he must have known it was her?

Meanwhile, Lisa vents her frustrations to Carla about her new boss, who’s happy to let Summer go down for Theo Silverton’s (James Cartwright) murder rather than investigate further, while Adam looks through Idris’ documents prior to agreeing to legal representation.

Daniel hurts Ken (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV)

Awakened by a call from Bertie’s school declaring that he’s failed to show up, Daniel looks around the flat and realises in horror that he’s missing. As he trades vicious barbs with Adam later, things get physical when Adam brings up Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn). When he lashes out, Daniel accidently strikes Ken, sending him staggering.

As Jodie continues to wind David up over what happened the night he climbed into bed with her, Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) advises him to tell Shona everything.

Also, when Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) makes a caustic dig about Brody’s past stealing cars for Carl, Leanne confronts Idris, concerned that he’s leading Brody back into crime, Lisa orders Todd’s phone to be sent to forensics when it’s found and Glenda Shuttleworth’s (Jodie Prenger) heart bursts when Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) asks her to take charge of the dementia choir when it becomes too much for her.

Jodie ruins Bethany’s birthday dinner (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV)

Maria’s taken aback when she relays that Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) has forgotten Bethany’s (Lucy Fallon) birthday and Gary Windass (Mikey North) fiercely defends her. As the Platts gather at the bistro later, Jodie destroys the mood by talking about Theo’s murder.

As Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) explicitly tells Ken and Adam that Daniel is currently incapable of looking after himself, Daniel calls round to apologise to Ken, but is disheartened when his dad worries that he’s heading down the same alcoholic path as Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne). Storming out, Daniel is further horrified to find social services on his doorstep.

Concurrently, Sally and Tim Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine) look on in horror as Lisa arrests Brody for theft, explaining that forensics found his fingerprints on Todd’s phone and after Hope Dobbs (Isabella Flanagan) declines to have tea with Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan), his mind plays tricks on him when he sees her with Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale).
