"textContent": "A forensic tent at the crime scene on Poplar Close in Hackney (Picture: Dinendra Haria/LNP)\n\n**A teenage boy has been stabbed to death after a fight spilled out of a house party in Hackney.**\n\nPolice were called after a large group of people with machetes were seen on Towpath Walk shortly after 7.15pm on Monday, with some callers suggesting they had also heard gunshots.\n\nThe young victim was found with stab wounds in nearby Poplar Close, but despite the efforts of medics from both the land and air ambulance, he was declared dead at the scene.\n\nDetectives are working to formally identify the victim, who the Met said was a teenager but did not give an exact age, and tell his family.\n\nDetective Chief Inspector Ben Massink said: ‘Our thoughts remain with the victim and his family – we are working at pace to ensure all his loved ones are informed and offered specialist support from officers.\n\n## Sign up for all of the latest stories\n\nStart your day informed with Metro's **News Updates** newsletter or get **Breaking News** alerts the moment it happens.\n\n‘For members of the local community, who will no doubt be shocked and saddened by the events of yesterday evening, increased police patrols are in place in the area. We know there were a significant number of people in the area at the time of the stabbing, and some individuals recorded the incident on their mobile phone.\n\n‘I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened or who has footage of the incident to come forward to police – your information could be vital.
