Premier League Supercomputer predicts the 2026/27 champions as Arsenal bid to defend title

Arsenal have only just lifted the Premier League title – but a Supercomputer has already rated the Gunners’ chances of retaining the title next season.

Mikel Arteta’s side finally got their hands on the league trophy last weekend after being confirmed as champions in midweek, ending a 22-year wait for the biggest prize in English men’s football.

And while Arsenal can add to their trophy cabinet again next weekend in the Champions League final, attention will soon turn towards preparing to defend their league title next season.

The club’s owners have already insisted that they won’t take their foot off the gas over the summer as they look to add more quality and depth to Arteta’s side in the transfer market.

But Arsenal will still have to see off plenty of competition if they are to defend the Premier League title for the first time in the club’s history.

Despite Pep Guardiola leaving this summer, Manchester City will still expect to put up a strong fight as Enzo Maresca prepares to step into the dugout and replace the legendary Spaniard.

Manchester United will hope to continue their development under Michael Carrick over the course of a whole season, while Liverpool will hope that a less turbulent pre-season will help them get back to their best under Arne Slot.

Despite all of that, though, a football supercomputer has backed Arsenal and Arteta to go back to back and win the league title again next season.

The computer model analysed several factors, including player quality, manager quality, historical trends, their form during the 2025/26 season, betting market fluctuations and other variables.

And having simulated every possible game in a season 10,000 times, it believes that Arsenal will ease to a fairly comfortable triumph, finishing eight poins clear of City in second.

Liverpool and United are fancied to complete the top four, with Chelsea, Aston Villa and Tottenham rounding out the European qualification positions.

At the other end of the table, the supercomputer does not have much faith in any of the three promoted sides from the Championship.

Frank Lampard’s Coventry City are pipped to finish bottom, with Ipswich Town and Hull City finishing 19th and 18th, respectively.
