"textContent": "Mohamed Salah says Liverpool need to ‘go back to being the heavy metal attacking team’ (Reuters)\n\nMohamed Salah has aimed a dig at Arne Slot with a scathing statement after Liverpool’s 4-2 defeat to Aston Villa on Friday night.\n\nAfter winning the Premier League title last season, Liverpool have been way off the pace this term as they currently sit fifth in the table and 20 points behind leaders Arsenal.\n\nSalah, who is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, has already criticised the club in December and claimed his relationship with Slot had deteriorated.\n\nIn a new statement which was released on Saturday afternoon, Salah once again took aim at Slot by saying that he wants the side to ‘go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear’.\n\n## Get ready for the World Cup\n\nGet previews of every single team at the World Cup sent directly to your inbox, featuring the players to look out for, games you shouldn’t miss and Metro’s big England predictions. Don't miss out, sign up here.\n\nLiverpool have just one Premier League game remaining as they host Brentford at Anfield next Sunday.\n\nMohamed Salah looked dejected after Liverpool’s 4-2 defeat to Aston Villa on Friday (AMA/Getty)\n\n‘I have witnessed this club go from doubters to believers, and from believers to champions. It took hard work and I always did everything I could to help the club get there. Nothing makes me prouder than that,’ Salah said.\n\n‘Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve. I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies. That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it.\n\n‘Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games.\n\n‘Liverpool will always be a club that means a great deal to me and to my family. I want to see it succeed for long after I have moved on.\n\n‘As I’ve always said, qualifying to next season’s Champions League is the bare minimum and I will do everything I can to make that happen.’\n\n**For more stories like this, check our sport page**.\n\n**Follow Metro Sport for the latest news on**Facebook,** Twitter and Instagram**.\n\nComment now Comments \nAdd Metro as a Preferred Source on Google\nAdd as preferred source\n",
